MUSES

MUSES was a citizen co-creation project aimed to be gatherer and inclusive. Our goal was to create a short production inspired by traditional dances and music from around the world.

TO GET THERE, we invited women from the Côte-des-Neiges borough in Montreal who agreed to share their knowledge of traditional dances or music from their home countries with our team of four female performers .

OUR WISH was to meet our muses on several occasions, according to their availability, and learn from them. As our project was part of a process of cooperation and exchange, we offered day or evening meetings, with a flexible schedule and in various locations.

TO CONCLUDE, our 30 minutes co-creation was first presented as part of the inauguration of the 375th anniversary of Montreal legacy to the borough of Côte-des-Neiges - Notre-Dame-de-Grace, then at the place Georges-Émile -Lapalme of the Place des Arts in autumn 2017.

A CO-CREATION PROJECT IN DANCE FROM AROUND THE WORLD CARRIED OUT BY ZEUGMA, IN COLLABORATION WITH THE MAISON DE LA CULTURE CÔTE-DES-NEIGES,  AS PART OF DES PONTS CULTURELS, D'UNE RIVE À L'AUTRE GRANT PROGRAM.

Des ponts culturels d'une rive à l'autre was launched in June 2015 by the Conseil des arts de Montréal and Culture Montréal, together with the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, Place des Arts, the Arts Council of Longueuil as well as the cities of Laval, Longueuil, Sainte-Julie and Terrebonne. This program allows the meshing of cities and boroughs through projects of artistic co-creation with the citizens.
